Why we install CertainTeed
We are CertainTeed certified, and we install CertainTeed shingles on homes in Arlington and the rest of DFW. CertainTeed makes a range of asphalt shingles, from standard architectural lines to Class 4 impact-rated and slate-look designer products, which lets us match the roof to the house, the budget and the hail risk.
Everything on this page about the products comes from CertainTeed’s own product pages, linked below each line. We don’t add ratings or claims of our own. Manufacturers update their lines, so check the current product page before you choose.
Most of our roofs use CertainTeed Landmark AR, our standard roof package. We also install CertainTeed Belmont and Highland Slate for a designer look, Patriot for a budget-friendly roof, and ClimateFlex when you want a Class 4 impact-resistant shingle.
CertainTeed shingle lines compared
CertainTeed groups its residential shingles by look and performance. The table summarizes what CertainTeed publishes for five lines DFW homeowners ask about. The deciding column for most North Texas roofs is the UL 2218 impact class, because it affects both hail performance and possible insurance credits.
| Line | Look, per CertainTeed | UL 2218 impact class, per CertainTeed | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landmark PRO | Multi-layer shingle with a fiberglass base | Class 3 | Rated for winds up to 110 mph; algae resistant; UL Class A fire resistance |
| Landmark PRO Solaris | Shingle with Solaris cool roof technology | Class 3 | All colors rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council |
| Landmark ClimateFlex | Wood-shake look | Class 4 | Made with polymer-modified asphalt |
| NorthGate ClimateFlex | Two-piece laminated fiberglass shingle | Class 4 | Described as durable and pliable, rated for winds up to 110 mph |
| Grand Manor | Designed to replicate natural slate | Class 4 | Multi-layer design; Class A fire resistance |
Class 3 or Class 4 for a DFW home
Class 4 is the higher rating under UL 2218 and the one Texas insurers give the largest credit for, though each insurer sets the amount. Class 3 lines such as Landmark PRO still carry an impact rating and suit homes where the owner isn’t chasing an insurance credit or a top-tier hail rating.
If you’ve had a hail claim before, plan to stay in the house, or your agent offers a meaningful credit, the Class 4 lines are usually worth pricing. Our Class 4 shingles guide explains the rating, the paperwork your insurer wants, and the limits of what an impact rating promises.
Heat and color
Dark shingles absorb more sun and heat the attic. CertainTeed’s Landmark PRO Solaris uses cool roof technology, and CertainTeed states every color is rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. The U.S. Department of Energy notes cool asphalt shingles cost about the same as conventional ones.
Heat in the attic also depends on ventilation and insulation, not just the shingle. On the inspection we check how the attic is vented, so the shingle and the attic work together. Bring a few photos of roof colors you like and we’ll talk through how each one suits your house.
Warranties and our labor warranty
Manufacturer warranties come from CertainTeed. The terms differ by product, and CertainTeed publishes them on each product page, so read the page for the exact line on your quote. We don’t restate or interpret them here.
Our own workmanship is covered by a 5-year labor warranty, separate from anything CertainTeed provides. Both should be spelled out in your written quote. For our insurance and city registration, see licensing.
Getting a CertainTeed roof
Every roof is priced after we measure and inspect it, and the inspection is free. We’ll check the decking, flashing and attic ventilation, then price the CertainTeed line you choose, or two lines side by side if you’re deciding between Class 3 and Class 4.
What drives the price is explained in our roof replacement cost guide, and the full process is on roof replacement. Book a free inspection or call (817) 754-9484.
