How payment works on a retail job
A retail job is one you pay for yourself, without an insurance claim. We measure and inspect the roof first, then put the scope, the named materials and the price in writing. Nothing starts until you have agreed to that document, and the price does not change unless the scope does.
The one common change is decking. Rotten or damaged wood under the old roof cannot be seen until the shingles come off, so the estimate states how replacement decking will be priced if we find it. That way there is no open-ended surprise on the final invoice.
Your deposit and payment schedule are set in your written contract before work starts, so you know exactly what is due and when.
For what drives the price of a roof in the first place, see our DFW roof replacement cost guide.
How payment works on an insurance claim
On an insurance job, your insurer sets the payment schedule, not us. Most replacement cost policies pay in two parts: an actual cash value payment after the claim is approved, then the held-back depreciation once the work is complete and documented. We invoice in step with those payments and provide the paperwork your insurer asks for.
- The claim is approved and the insurer issues the first payment, often with your mortgage company named on the check.
- The work is scheduled and completed to the approved scope.
- We send the final invoice and completion documents, which you submit to release any recoverable depreciation.
- You pay the balance, including your deductible.
Our page on actual cash value vs replacement cost explains the difference between the two policy types, and the insurance claims guide covers the full process.
Your deductible is yours to pay
Texas law requires the policyholder to pay the deductible on a property insurance claim. It is illegal for a contractor to waive it, absorb it, or hand it back as a rebate or credit. Contracts of 1,000 dollars or more tied to an insurance settlement must include a written notice of that rule, and your insurer can ask for proof you paid.
We will never offer to cover a deductible, and we will not inflate a claim to make one disappear. A contractor who offers either deal is asking you to take part in insurance fraud. The Texas Department of Insurance explains the law, and our deductibles page goes into wind and hail percentage deductibles.
Financing options
We offer two kinds of financing. Third-party financing is available through an outside lender, and in specific situations we can arrange financing in-house. Rates and terms depend on the lender and your circumstances, so we discuss them one on one rather than publish them here.
Financing is available, including in-house financing for some situations. Ask about it during your estimate and we will walk you through the options.
Ask about financing at the inspection or call (817) 754-9484. Settling it before the job is scheduled means the arrangement is in place by the time the invoice arrives, not after.
Ways to pay
We accept the payment methods listed below. Whatever method you use, keep a record of each payment against the written contract, especially on an insurance job where your insurer may ask for proof that the deductible was paid.
We accept ACH bank transfer, check, cash, Zelle, cryptocurrency, and credit and debit cards.
