This page will hold a dated post after each major hail or wind event that hits Arlington, Fort Worth or the surrounding DFW cities. Posts go up only for storms confirmed by official reports, and each one stays here as a record you can point to when you talk with your insurer.
What each storm post will include
Each post covers one event and sticks to what can be checked against official sources. If a detail isn’t in a National Weather Service or Storm Prediction Center report, it doesn’t go in the post. That keeps the archive useful as a dated record when you talk with your insurer. Each post lists:
- The date and approximate time of the storm.
- The cities and areas named in official reports, with links to the Storm Prediction Center’s storm reports and the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
- Reported hail sizes and wind speeds as the official sources list them, never estimates of our own.
- What that kind of damage usually looks like on a roof, siding and gutters.
- Links to the right page for your city, such as hail damage roof repair in Arlington.
What to do after a storm
Start with safety, then document the damage before anything is cleaned up or repaired, because photos taken soon after a storm show the damage before weather or cleanup changes it. The Texas Department of Insurance recommends these steps:
- File a claim as soon as you can if hail or wind damaged your home.
- Photograph and video the damage inside and out, and keep damaged items until your insurer says you can discard them.
- Make temporary repairs to stop further damage, such as covering holes, and keep every receipt.
- Be home when the adjuster visits so they can see everything.
- Get more than one estimate, and never sign a contract with blank spaces.
- Avoid any contractor who offers to waive your deductible. It is illegal in Texas.
We offer free roof inspections after a storm. We document what we find with photos and can meet your adjuster on the roof. Read more on storm damage repair and insurance claim help, or call (817) 754-9484.
