Roof Experts received a call from a business owner in Fort Worth. They asked us to inspect the roof, so we went out and walked it. We found damage that warranted an insurance claim, and we photographed and documented it before recommending next steps.
Our recommendation was for the owner to call their insurance carrier and file a claim. Their insurance wanted to pay to repair a portion of the damage to the roof, but did not want to pay for a full replacement. Roof Experts then provided the insurance carrier with detailed documentation of the damage and an estimate for a complete roof replacement.
After reviewing that documentation, the carrier approved a full roofing system replacement. Once the roof was approved, we scheduled and coordinated the job, then upgraded the building to a newer, more energy-efficient commercial roofing system. The replacement was completed without interfering with the business's day-to-day operations.
What was the most challenging part of this job?
Showing the insurance company that repairs would not be sufficient. It took a significant amount of time to document the damage in detail, section by section, so the adjuster could see the full picture instead of a few damaged spots. That careful documentation is what moved the claim from a partial repair to an approved replacement.
When did being an expert come into play?
Documenting damage the way insurance carriers need to see it is a skill. It means being able to explain each component of the roof, what it does, and how damage to one part affects the others. That knowledge helped this claim get reviewed and approved for full replacement. If you are heading into an adjuster visit, our guide to meeting the adjuster covers what to expect.
What this job means for your building
Every claim is different, and the carrier always makes the final call under your policy. What this job shows is that the first estimate isn't always the last word when the damage is well documented. A few things helped here:
- An inspection before the claim was filed, so the owner knew what was on the roof.
- Photos and notes covering the whole roof, not just the obvious spots.
- A complete, line-item estimate that explained why a repair would not hold.
- A roofer on site with the adjuster to walk through the damage.
We are a roofing contractor, not a public adjuster, and we never waive or cover deductibles. We help you understand the process and document the damage; the claim stays between you and your carrier. Our insurance claims page explains how we help.
