Hail Damage Roof Repair in Grand Prairie, TX

Short answer

Roof Experts, LLC inspects Grand Prairie roofs for hail damage at no charge, photographs every hit and tells you whether there is enough damage for a claim. If there is, we document it for your insurer and can meet the adjuster. Then we handle the Grand Prairie re-roof permit and any HOA paperwork for the repair or replacement.

Hail around Grand Prairie in 2026

Grand Prairie straddles the Tarrant-Dallas county line and takes storms crossing either county. For the overnight storms of April 25 to 26, 2026, preliminary Storm Prediction Center reports list 1-inch hail in Grand Prairie, hail estimated up to 3 inches a few miles east near Dallas Baptist University, and 2-inch hail a few miles west near Lake Arlington.

Those SPC reports are preliminary, and hail size changes block by block. A 1-inch report can mean bruised shingles on one street and nothing on the next, which is why an inspection beats guessing. We post local storm notes on storm updates.

What we check on a Grand Prairie roof

A hail inspection covers more than the shingles. Soft metals and the things around the house often show hail more clearly than the roof does, and they help confirm the size and direction of the storm for your insurer. We photograph all of it, with a scale reference and a wide shot that shows where each item is.

  1. Around the house: gutters, downspouts, window screens, fences and AC condenser fins.
  2. On the roof: every slope, with hits marked in test squares, plus vents, pipe jacks, flashing and ridge caps.
  3. In the attic: daylight, stains and wet decking.
  4. The answer: a claim, an out-of-pocket repair, or no damage at all.

HOAs and matching after hail

Many newer subdivisions in south Grand Prairie have HOAs that review roof material and color. After hail that matters twice: a patched slope has to blend in, and a full replacement usually needs HOA approval before work starts. If your shingle has been discontinued, a clean match may not exist.

When a repair cannot be matched well, we photograph the closest available shingle beside yours so you, your HOA and your adjuster can all see the difference. If replacement is the right call, we give you the product, color and spec sheet for the HOA application. See roof replacement in Grand Prairie and what drives the price in our roof replacement cost guide.

Permit timing after a hail claim

Grand Prairie requires a residential re-roof permit for any roof replacement, recovering or repair, and the city says processing typically takes 5 to 10 business days. After a big storm, that time adds up with the adjuster visit and HOA review, so we apply as soon as your claim is approved and you sign.

If water is getting in while you wait, a temporary cover protects the house. Keep the receipt: the Texas Department of Insurance notes that your policy may pay for temporary repairs. Smaller hail damage may only need a roof repair in Grand Prairie.

Deductibles and door-to-door crews

After a hailstorm, crews from out of town knock on doors across Grand Prairie, and some offer to cover your deductible. Business and Commerce Code §27.02 makes that illegal for a contractor, and Insurance Code Chapter 707 requires you to pay it, as the Texas Department of Insurance explains.

FAQ

Questions from Grand Prairie homeowners

Is a hail inspection in Grand Prairie really free?

Yes. There is no charge and no obligation. We check every slope, the attic and the soft metals around the house, photograph what we find, and tell you plainly whether you have damage worth a claim.

Should I file a claim before or after the inspection?

Get the inspection first if nothing is leaking. It tells you whether there is real hail damage before a claim goes on your record. If there is, report it promptly; the Texas Department of Insurance advises filing as soon as you can after hail damages your home.

Will my HOA let me upgrade to Class 4 shingles?

Often, yes. Many Class 4 shingles look like standard architectural shingles, and HOAs generally review the product and color rather than the impact rating. We give you the spec sheet for the application, and you should ask your agent what premium discount your insurer gives for Class 4.

Can you meet my adjuster on the roof?

Yes. We can be on the roof with the adjuster to show every hit and dented component we photographed. Texas law does not allow a contractor doing the work to act as your public adjuster, so we do not negotiate your claim, but we make sure nothing we documented is missed.

What is a wind and hail deductible?

Many Texas policies have a separate deductible for wind and hail, often set as a percentage of the home's insured value rather than a flat amount. Check your declarations page or ask your agent so the number is not a surprise. You pay it; no contractor can legally cover it.
